Spanisch (Kastilisch) ist Amtssprache in Spanien und wird in ganz Lateinamerika gesprochen. Es ist auch Amtssprache von Äquatorialguinea und wird als Zweitsprache in den USA, Brasilien und Westeuropa stark gelernt.

Etwa 500 Millionen Menschen sprechen Spanisch als Erstsprache; Schätzungen aller Nutzer inklusive Zweitsprache liegen oft bei rund 600 Millionen.
Grammatik und Struktur
Spanisch ist überwiegend synthetisch: Verben tragen reiche Endungen für Person, Tempus und Modus; Substantive und Adjektive kongruieren in Genus (maskulin/feminin) und Numerus. Die Wortstellung ist flexibler als im Englischen; Subjektpronomen fehlen oft, weil die Verbform das Subjekt markiert. Zentrale Lernfelder sind ser vs. estar, Konjunktiv und die Stellung der Objektpronomen.
